He had a much better PL record at Newcastle than our current manager did. Better in fact than all their PL managers other than Keegan and Robson.
Also won their only cup trophy since the 1960s (okay it was the Inter-Toto).

Peoples abuse of him was inexcusable
His behaviour was still disrespectful to a club that employed him beyond his capabilities and supported him during a period of illness.

As said, people in football have said he's a decent coach.
The step to manager (Brian Kidd, Glenn Hoddle, Rene Mulesteen or however it's spelt) can be one some coach's can't make.
